Kat, The kitchen looks FANTASTIC! Really like the counters, cabinets and bookcase - very classy. I have a feeling that the food you prepare there will taste even better than before. Guess all the noise and dust were worth it!
Nan, I liked my cupboards which are pine and were custom built for the house and didn't want new ones. I asked the carpenter to make new fronts for the drawers and cabinets. He used beadboard. After looking at the cabinet fronts unstained for a week, I asked my painted to use a stain which would just bring out the wood grain of the beadboard and then had him poly them with two coats. It makes my kitchen seem so much lighter. I love the look.
From a guy's point of view, the whole thing looks great. Too much clutter in areas that are completed. "Stuff" belongs in a place, and that usually means a place where only you know it lives. Great improvement, and I give it an 8 out of 10. Just so you don't feel badly, I just renovated my own kitchen, and I give it a 6 out of 10.

I love the way the cupboard doors are a different color from the surrounding wood. Are they two different types of wood?
